Mental health and couples relationships
Mental health can affect various aspects of your life ,including intimate relationships. Sometimes mental health symptoms can cause a partner to feel lethargic , anxious , selfish , narcissistic and not willing to communicate .
Some spouse may not be willing to talk about their mental health issues with their partner due to the stigma that is attach to mental health and it is also about the ego and the shame that they could experience. Other issues that mental health issues can cause, if it is not address, is job loss, resentment, fatigue, loss of intimacy, increase conflicts. It can cause stress and worry for everyone in the family as well.
Communication is the key to enjoying a healthy relationship despite any mental health struggles. Be supportive, set boundaries as needed to maintain your own mental wellness, validate their feelings, love them, and let them know you are there for them during the high and the low. If and when you see signs that help is needed always reach out to a mental health professional.
