Suicidal Prevention awareness

 How do we talk with someone who is having suicidal thoughts: 1. Show empathy  2.Ask , how long have you been feeling this way  3.Do you ever feel like giving up  4.How can I support you now  Provide Reassurance  5. Say , you are not alone  6. I am here to listen  7. I care about you  If the thoughts are beyond passive Ask the hard questions: Do you have a plan ? If someone you know is in crisis call the National suicidal prevention lifeline or call 988 or 911.

Mental health and couples relationships

  Mental health can affect various  aspects of your life ,including intimate relationships. Sometimes mental health symptoms can cause a partner to feel lethargic , anxious , selfish , narcissistic and not willing to communicate .  Some spouse may not be willing to talk about their mental health issues with their partner due to the stigma that is attach to mental health and it is also about the ego and the shame that they could experience. Other issues that mental health issues can cause, if it is not address, is job loss, resentment, fatigue, loss of intimacy, increase conflicts. It can cause stress and worry for everyone in the family as well.  Communication is the key to enjoying a healthy relationship despite any mental health struggles. Be supportive, set boundaries as needed to maintain your own mental wellness, validate their feelings, love them, and let them know you are there for them during the high and the low.
